How did we get started?

Bishop Smith founded Prince of Peace Praise Center (POPPC) in 2006.  God instructed Bishop Smith to start a church while he was a busy thriving Truck Driver.  He started the church by using his paychecks to rent a building, five (5) members, and a radio that served as the choir and band.

God has blessed Bishop Smith and the ministry abundantly.  He grew the church to the point where God instructed him to lead the ministry in a full-time capacity in 2016.  The church’s motto is, “The Church Where People Go to Grow.”  Through the sound teachings and level of faith that the leadership of the church exudes, “people growing” is exactly the sentiment and testimony that resounds amongst the members.

God continues to bless and grow the church.  POPPC is growing and in the process of a building project so that we can expand to have an even greater impact in the community and make tidal waves for the Kingdom.  When God gives a person the vision, He always gives the provision. Bishop Smith is also the advisor to other Pastors. We look forward to what God has next for POPPC…

FOUNDER AND SENIOR PASTOR

Bishop Reginald D. Smith is the Founder and Senior Pastor of Prince of Peace Praise Center (POPPC).  Bishop Smith is a God-ordained prophetic and prolific orator of the 21st century.  He is also a profound illustrator of the Word.  Bishop Smith’s ministry touches the young, the old, men and women; however, he has a very impactful gift in growing men and entrepreneurs.  POPPC’s motto is “The Church Where People Go to Grow” and Bishop Smith excels in giving people tools, Keys to the Kingdom, to grow in Christ.

Bishop Smith founded POPPC in 2006.  He started the church with 5 members and a radio that served as the choir and band.  God has blessed Bishop Smith and the ministry abundantly.  He grew the church to the point where God instructed him to lead the ministry in a full-time capacity.  He left the main stream work force to become a full-time pastor.  As he worked whole-heartedly for the Kingdom and grew the ministry as well as help other ministries grow, he was honored to be consecrated as a Bishop in 2015.

Bishop Smith is committed to serving the community.  Bishop has served as a Chaplain for the City of Chesapeake’s Police Department since 2018.  He serves so that he can make a greater impact in the lives of the residents of the community.  Bishop’s desire is to reduce poverty, reduce crime, empower people, and most importantly lead them to Christ.  Bishop Smith along with his wife have birthed their own ministry, Smith & Smith Ministries, Inc.  Bishop’s commitment to the community is reflected in his nonprofit’s mission which is to promote the well-being of at-risk groups to include youth, senior citizens and underprivileged families.  The nonprofit achieves this by providing enriched services that create community viability for the people served and the community at large.

Bishop Smith has been married to Elder Keya Smith since 2018.  Their union was God sent.  Together they share seven children and 10 grandchildren.

Bishop Smith whole-heartedly embraces Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me.”  He exemplifies this passage in his life and helps others to realize this powerful passage in their own lives.
